IRS Extends Filing Deadline to April 18

Modernized eFile (MeF) and Direct Pay Issues Resolved

The IRS has extended the tax filing deadline to midnight on April 18, allowing taxpayers an extra day to file and pay their taxes following technical difficulties with the agency’s electronic filing and online payment systems. Earlier this morning, we were informed that that IRS was working on bringing the systems back online and that Acting IRS Commissioner David Kautter had indicated during today’s House hearing on IRS oversight that the Service planned to attempt a “hard reboot” of the agency’s system.
